A national nonprofit membership organization is seeking a Temporary Graphic Designer to support its in-house Communications and Marketing team during a busy production cycle. This is a hands-on production role focused on layout, design, and preparing high-quality digital and print resources for both internal stakeholders and a national member audience.

The designer will work across the full Adobe Creative Suite to develop original designs, signage, and digital graphics, while also handling file conversion, proofing, and format compliance. This is a great fit for a detail-oriented designer who enjoys variety — moving from event signage one day to social media graphics, email campaign visuals, or publication layout the next.

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit original design files using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for both print production and digital use
  • Convert design files into formats compatible with print and online platforms
  • Design, print, and mount signage, banners, and other materials for meetings and events
  • Edit externally prepared files and evaluate them for production compatibility and quality
  • Assist with digital asset management for production materials, including uploading product and personal record images to an internal database
  • Scan, edit, and resize photos and documents for internal and member-facing materials
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures within areas of responsibility
  • Coordinate with the web team to prepare and deliver text, images, and layouts for website publication
  • Maintain branding standards across publications and visual materials, including color palettes, fonts, and layout guidelines
  • Develop visuals for social media platforms and digital communications in collaboration with communications staff
  • Create in-house advertisements and visuals for programs, webinars, email campaigns, and special events
  • Prepare final files for prepress and review/approve proofs for publication
  • Support rapid response projects and special assignments as directed

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in graphic design or equivalent work experience required; Bachelor's degree in graphic design preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in publication layout, editorial design, or print/digital media
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Working proficiency across the broader Adobe Creative Suite, including Acrobat
  • Experience with prepress tools such as EFI Fiery
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and experience preparing web content
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established quality standards
  • Excellent file organization, color accuracy, and image resolution judgment
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision

Desired Skills

Design & Production

Adobe Creative Cloud

Additional Information

  • Standard office environment with hybrid flexibility per the employer's hybrid work policy
  • Extended periods of stationary computer work (up to two-thirds of the workday)
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment and visual focus on layout, editing, and design tasks
  • Reasonable accommodations available in accordance with applicable law

This is an excellent opportunity for a contract or in-between-roles designer who wants steady, meaningful project work with a respected mission-driven organization, without committing to a full-time permanent role right away. There is genuine potential for this engagement to extend or convert to a permanent position for the right fit.
