Job Title: Copy Editor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and narrative-driven Copy Editor to edit a compelling, data-informed white paper based on recent research conducted with students and campus operators at select universities. This role will focus on transforming quantitative survey results into a captivating, sales-enablement asset that tells the story of how smart food pickup lockers improve campus operations and student experience.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the original case study to identify key business challenges, solutions, and outcomes
- Create a comprehensive outline that expands the case study into white paper format
- Develop a compelling title and executive summary that highlights business value
- Reorganize content to follow standard white paper structure while maintaining narrative flow
- Expand the problem statement section to address broader industry challenges
- Incorporate relevant market research, statistics, and industry trends to establish context
- Enhance solution descriptions with more technical details and implementation insights
- Elaborate on results with additional metrics, ROI analysis, and long-term impact
- Ensure consistent tone that balances educational content with subtle sales messaging
- Add section headers, subheaders, and navigational elements for improved readability
- Create or revise graphics, charts, and visuals to support key points effectively
- Develop sidebars or callout boxes for important statistics, quotes, or supplemental information
- Remove client-specific details that are too narrow while preserving credibility
- Insert thoughtful transitions between sections to maintain logical flow
- Incorporate appropriate citations and references to build authority
- Craft a compelling conclusion with clear next steps for the reader
- Develop supplementary content like checklists or frameworks to increase practical value
- Proofread the final document for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting consistency
- Ensure compliance with brand guidelines and marketing department requirements
- Verify all facts, figures, and claims meet legal requirements for publication
Requirements
- Strong understanding of B2B sales processes and buyer journey stages
- Experience editing technical content for clarity without losing essential details
- Ability to identify and emphasize ROI metrics and business value propositions
- Knowledge of industry-specific terminology and ability to explain it to diverse audiences
- Excellent storytelling skills to transform customer experiences into compelling narratives
- Understanding of white paper structure, formatting, and best practices
- Ability to maintain brand voice while adapting tone for sales enablement purposes
- Experience with data visualization editing to ensure statistics tell a coherent story
- Strong SEO knowledge to incorporate relevant keywords without keyword stuffing
- Familiarity with sales objection patterns and how to address them subtly in content
- Skill in creating scannable content with effective headers, callouts, and bullet points
- Experience editing executive summaries that capture key decision-maker concerns
- Ability to craft compelling calls-to-action appropriate for white paper context
- Knowledge of compliance and legal considerations for customer case references
- Proficiency with traditional style guides while adapting to company-specific guidelines
- Experience editing content for multiple distribution channels (print, digital, presentation)
- Attention to citation details and proper attribution of research and statistics
